Ugh, bro, stop perpetuating harmful stereotypes!

Does Cale identify as a she/her? No?

    Then:
*Cale is such a good dad.

Sorry, but calling men “mom” just rubs me the wrong way. Like they can’t be real parents unless they’re women? It’s the same vibe as those tired “husbands hate their wives” jokes that normalize domestic abuse.

...bro chill it was a joke

I agree with this statement because it aligns heavily with the queer term, "mother", it's not like saying Cale is a mother-figure to me, but more aligns with him being a bad bitch/serving cunt on a daily however he is a good PARENTAL FIGURE... Why is it a bad thing to be associated with "moms"... that's literally a good thing... [thank you for coming to my TedTalk]

The joke plays into a stereotype that men can't be nurturing unless they're called 'mom,' which kinda erases the fact that men can be good parents without needing to be feminized. That’s why it rubs me the wrong way.

It is a small thing, but small things like this normalize bigger problems, like expecting women to carry the emotional labor while men get applauded for doing the bare minimum. That’s why I pointed it out.

Totally get where you're coming from - “mother” as a queer term is powerful and affirming in the right context. But my issue is more with how fandom often defaults to calling any nurturing male character “mom,” even when it’s not meant in a queer-coded or camp way. It usually happens because people subconsciously don’t see men as valid caregivers unless they’re feminized.

That kind of framing ends up hurting both sides - it erases men's ability to be emotionally present as fathers, and it reinforces the idea that emotional labor and care are automatically women's roles. So it’s not that being associated with “moms” is bad - moms are awesome. It’s just frustrating when “dad” doesn’t feel like an option.
