Fr it felt like what Aoki liked were the things she did for him rather than Ayami herself. That dynamic would be so frustrating it's no wonder they broke up. Aoki has good intentions but he def came off as selfish.
But also, I think it showed the depth of their past relationship, or lack thereof, that there's no hard feelings btwn them and they can move on and grow with the right people (=・ω・=)
So she had a crush on her now married friend, that's rough...
And I'm not sure if I misunderstood, but what he complimented about his ex sounded really selfish and self-absorbed to me.
'I liked that you hided when you felt bad, so that my well being is still in tact'. Like excuse me sir?? Correct me if I'm wrong but that sounded hella one-sided and selfishly putting your own state of feelings over hers (╯°Д °)╯╧╧ Dude literally realized at times that she wasn't doing well and still didn't bother lol
