gabriel is cedric ,theo thinks what they do and what he has done is sin(killing of innocent kids leaving his brother to his sick father was selfishness) he think cedric as god's angel so he is confessing his sins through letter in the beginning and by the end of manhwa cedric read them and burn them.-hope that clears

I think Gabe is one of Theo's closest friends from his time out of "Paradise", and he needed to confess his sins (perhaps his training at seminary school?) and Cedric intercepted the mail (as typical obsessed mls are wont to do) and burns it. To Theo, Paradise is a cursed hell that he chooses to stay in out of obligation, shame and some sense of hedonism. The feeling of learned helplessness that washes over him ("I feel like i'm floating in the air - I couldn't do anything about it") is a reflex associated with his presence in Paradise, so I guess he was trying to get someone to get him outta there; and Cedric, knowing Theo's turn of mind, intercepts and burns the letter before it can leave the grounds of Paradise.
