Idk about other continents but Asia has less women then men. They favored sons and ended girls. Had high femicide rate. Watched a video about this a couple years ago. Makes more since why there would B 2 men to 1 women. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
That's China you're talking about. This is Japan. There are actually slightly more females than males in Japan. In contrast, China has a surplus of about 30 million men. That's basically the population of a medium to large sized country.
only way i could imagine is if the low birth rate was from male infertility, cuz two guys means at least one of them's gotta be fertile maybe;; but then it'd still make no sense cuz why not any other numbers like 3 husbands x 2 wives
That still doesn’t make sense to me though. Wouldn’t that just mean at some point there’d be a lot more single women left over since a woman could take multiple dudes? That wouldn’t solve any birth rates, if anything, it’d make them worse.
While I do think the explanation is rushed and a bit lacking, they did allude to it by mentioning how a three person household has a higher income and child rearing is easier with 3 parents... Which are both important factors to build a family. I think the idea is not "more partners = more babys" but that just having children is made more attractive again.
