You would not be capable of the kind of dedication and forgiveness needed to love someone with a "difficult" life. No human on the planet is without flaws. Don't get me wrong, there is a limit to any abuse accepted or given, but we all abuse each other in different ways. What is acceptable is determined by the individual. In fact, Akira never crosses the line that Kouhei has set as his limit. In the end, that unconditional love, forgiveness, understanding and perseverance wins out and produces a deep and loving relationship.
