Honestly thought if you re-read the story you see that he’s always been straight forward and clear about his desires. Never acts mysterious or subtle but intentional. He’s also respected or abided by a lot of her requests. Heck the only slight thing is the water scene and the baseball scene but I just chalk that up to his obsession lol. He’s like a yellow flag swimming in a red flag sea. But again all these denominators are just that denominators. He’s actually pretty nuanced.
