i was honestly thinking that its set somewhere near rovaniemi, but considering its not a super popular hotel, and that saariselkÀ is close by, i think its somewhere like ivalo... as someone who's traveled all through finland (although less in lapland), ÀkÀslompolo is a prime lapland vacation spot, especially since it isn't as tourist trappy since it isn't well known, loved visiting that place so much. a good little reprieve from the Helsinki air.
omggg Iâve only been to rovaniemi and have been wanting to travel to Finland more (even during the summer), Iâve been thinking about visiting Enare kommun (Inari kunta, also specifically ivalo) too!! Iâd love to hear all your recommendations because the whole country atp is a go to spot for me
lapland is geniunely as cozy as the manga portrays it between this reminds me of rovaniemi (also known as santa claus village), the aurora (albeit supr hard to spot), restaurants etc are all so magical during the dead of night at winter. if you're saving up for a vacation spot one day, i highkey recommend it. there are so many activites, you can even go dog sledding. the aurora viewing rooms are also in the hotels of rovaniemi. some hotel rooms are glass igloos.
the reindeers are super adorbs too. btw metsÀpeura means "finnish forest reindeer", which is a type of reindeers. so it's literally "hotel forest reindeer."
rovaniemi is a bit of a tourist trappy place though, but honestly every famous tourist place is a tourist trappy place, i still find it magical, but there are other places who offer the same things in rovaniemi for cheaper
