anyway, i do think the whole 'not gay, only for you thing' and the rare (though not as rare as it used to be) mention of being bi is, in part, a cultural thing. very black and white thinking, especially since often when bisexuality IS mentioned, it still has a 'promiscuity' reputation/vibe attached to it. which also connects somewhat to the idea that bisexual means equal attraction to both (any) gender, and that's not the case for many who identify as bi. however, i DO think that of the bisexual mentions i've read in recent years there seem to be more positive than negatives views as time progresses ^-^
that's my thought as well! 'awakening' is a useful term for a reason, after all. especially if you're in a place that has more rigid thinking, and/or you've had issue thus far with heterosexuality as your norm in the first place so you hadn't had a chance yet to bump up against something that challenged that.
