I'm confused about the powers can someone please explain???

In their family whenever a set of twins is born one of them will have the power to see and talk to the Inugami (can't remember if that's how it's spelled), the Dog God then possesses that child and they take over the duty of basically leading dogs' souls to heaven so they can reincarnate, and they live forever.
