I believe it's because he works more in the garden now. Before that he was mostly inside working on papers or outside fighting in the war. Maybe it is just another way to show how he shelters FL from the gardenwork. At least that would be my guess. :) But i was as confused as you xDD

At some point when i was reading the final chapters i was like tan mls are rare he really is handsome- wait what i don't remember him being tan??? I had to double check and he really wasn't. i even tried looking closely in the shirtless panels no not a sunburn his whole skin is dark??
Is that a side effect from the bombing in the war when his left ear got injured?
How does that affect his whole body when he was fully covered though?
It just feels like it came out of nowhere at least some context would have been nice
