You completely missed my point, I’m not saying people can't be multifaceted or like different genres, my point is about the double standard, It’s ridiculous for someone to aggressively hate on a harmless, lighthearted manhwa about a florist calling it a "stupid mess," while they willingly consume objectively toxic, messy, and violent content.

If you're going to tolerate extreme trash, don't act like a highbrow critic over a wholesome comic about flowers.

The thing is when reading trash you expect trash, so you don't overthink and overtly critique cause IT'S TRASH.

Clearly you think that this work is not trash and so did OP, so they came in with some degree of expectation as they've stated "I was hoping to see different flowers with different quality, I thought it would mostly be about flowers.. I guess I was wrong" they just had expectations on the premise of the story itself and it was not met thus they expressed their disappointment and said that's it's a 'stupid mess'.

You're the one being aggressive, the person already gave all the reasons why they thought it was a stupid mess but you just couldn't accept their expressed personal opinion and started dragging them by their reading history. We are on this site expect that almost all the readers to have read such trashy works, does that immediately invalidate all their opinion on non trashy works? Should all of them just lower their expectations on every manga/webtoon/donghua they'll read? Do they have no right to critique non trashy works anymore just because they've read some?

No correlation btw and also for your point below (it’s at the bottom) I think you’re getting a bit too riled up when all that the person said was that

1. they was hoping to see different flowers with different quality
(valid, people can have expectations about the story (about a florist btw) and be disappointed)

2. They thought it would mostly be about flowers.
(Same thing as up there expectations not met properly)

3. This is simply a stupid mess
(Now this is just a opinion which isn’t really agressive at all just expressing how they feel about the story)

The person never aggressively hated on the story nor did they act like a “highbrow critic”. They just simply stated how they felt about the story and told normal reasons as to why they felt that way.

And for why I’m not addressing your comment about “ while they willingly consume objectively toxic, messy, and violent content.” Is because that’s simply irrelevant as I’ve stated before. Just because someone consumes toxic media doesn’t automatically make everything they say completely wrong.

Also just because you read toxic stuff does not mean you condone it at all just like how if someone reads murder stories/ crime stuff it doesn’t mean they condone the actions.

You don’t know anything about this person other than the fact they consume toxic media so maybe get off your high horse and don’t be a judge of character based off superficial information of stories they read.

And even if the person is proven problematic it doesn’t mean their opinion and take on the story is any less valid. Ofc unless they never read it to begin with.
