Ono explicitly loves fuyumura. So she's a woman loving a woman (from her perspective)
Fuyumura struggles with both gender and sexuality. It is a very confusing thing for her. She loves Ono explicitly but is refusing/struggling to look at her sexually bc she doesn't want to acknowledge that Ono has matured and wants to go back to them both "being children again bc that was easy"
It has nuance. It definitely is not yuribaiting but a character arc for fuyumura to figure out if she's more comfortable being seen as a boy or girl, whether she's swinging both ways or ace etc. And she uses being a child as a way to avoid that. She could be bi or ace. Either way, I think it is a bit mean to say the author is just Yuri baiting, when there is an explicit lesbian and a character who's still figuring it out. There is no ongoing romance between the two but it's also not baiting bc romance was never promised between the two. And it's also weird to judge this solely on the basis of wlw when it's a story that's much broader than romance
From the discourse, it seemed to be that queerness in the story was debatable, and I did not want to read another work that a fandom swears to explore wlw themes, but it is simply vague implication without little to no evidence in the text, just based on delusions and headcanons… thus, the reason behind my response… obviously, with much more information added to the conversation, I understand that the work, perhaps not yuri, is very much queer, which I love… if this was the initial response to my comment, i would had a different opinion…
as along as it explores LGBQT+ themes, especially wlw, as a woman, I’ll always be down to read… romance is not a requirement for me… feels quite fetishizing tbh, as queerness is more than just THAT (sorry this is awkwardly worded but it’s the best i can come up with atm, so hopefully it makes sense) at least to me… also i never said the author did a yuri-bait, i am not the original poster…
It's part of fuyumuras and onos arc. It's pretty short tho an not the main focus of the story. The story is about adults and children and growing up. Since part of growing up is figuring out who you are, queer themes do pop up with fuyumura and Ono but since it is still a shonen it is not something that continuesly gets focused on. The main character is Sanda who is a straight cis man, so you know

I got yuri baited bruh
