Yes. If I am not wrong, he inherited the title and married a good woman. It's been a while since I read the novel so I hope I have not gotten it mixed up with other novels. But, yeah some events especially towards the end are different from the novel.

Rhyse made him suffer. She actually made the whole family suffer (reputation wise etc) while Edith and Killeon were enjoying their life in Ryzen. And because of the author's constraints, Cliff wasn't able to break free (as in he knows what Rhyse is doing is wrong and embarrassing for the family but he's can't seem to call her out or leave her). When Edith visited the ducal household, she mentioned that he was a shadow of the man he used to be, physically and mentally.
It wasn't until Rhyse was exposed for dumb shit she did that Cliff was able to snap out of it because Rhyse was sent far away, breaking author's constraints. He apologised to Edith, married a regular woman and is said to be quite in love with her.
