I understand whats your point is. But you need to understand the whole context of their situation, The emperor agreed himself. He knows what he made. That choice. They made the deal. But thats not what I'm trying to say in my first comment. In This chapter just show that she is still a strong protector and capable ruler of the empire. Her intelligence, leadership, and dedication to her role are what make her admirable, and that moment does not erase her overall qualities.

also if you can’t say no, you can’t say yes. he didn’t want to have sex with her but he couldn’t say no because they made a deal. if there isn’t an option to say no there isn’t an option to say yes. i haven’t read that chapter in a bit so i’ll probably reread it later, but it was pretty obviously rape
yeah just reread chapter 37 and 38, that was rape. like it’s basically spelt out in clear text. “not this nightmare again,” the way she’s making him feel guilty about the entire thing with the “how woukd your brother feel seeing you like this,” the fact that she knows he has no other choices if he wants the throne and to save his brother, is rape. it is a deal, but it’s still rape, he can’t back out of the deal or he loses his brother and the throne, there’s a power imbalance in there deal and she knows it. when she later wants his attention and forces him into a kiss and he obviously dosent like it, but he’s become used to it because she’s been raping him. if he dosent want it, then it’s not consensual. like the american sexual health association literally defined consent as “ Consent is an agreement that is willfully given without any external pressure or factors.” if there are external pressures, it’s not consensual, ie it’s rape

She is a very complex character. Her love is dark, deep, and obsessive. She's not a morally upright character, but her saving grace is that she just wants to protect the person she loves...and destroy him at the same time lol. She's definitely interesting.

Hate me but I really like the empress character. I mean she's a powerful empress. That kind of empress is needed. A protector. plus the emperor should try to move on and look the other way for a long time ago. But sill I'm kinda uncomfortable the fact that he have a relationship with he's half brother mother.
Edited : I want to clarify my first comment, I’m not saying I like the empress as a whole. I just admire this specific side of her. A strong, intelligent, and capable ruler. she is a indeed a remarkable empress, and that’s a fact I can’t ignore.
