I think it's how the ML is sort of ignorant and inconsiderate to the FL, the FL herself didn't say it explicitly or express discomfort tbh over him being around her even though she has stated quite multiple times how he's the trigger of her dying yet not really avoiding him and it's also the situation where she was recommended to be the world tree's caretaker by the ML without her knowledge nor wanting to be in that position thus putting her in the very point of the story where she could be accused and die at any second so she's forced to basically work at a job she didn't apply to and she can't quit it any time soon given it is the imperial palace.
In that view I can understand why people are sort of hating cause ML put her in a place she didnt ask for and wasn't even informed beforehand that she would be recommended. Not really hating on him since I also do like yearner ML but its the fact that FL has to tiptoe around her job so as not to die because of the ML and I do wish the FL herself clarified their relationship w the ML because she doesn’t even wanna get married but then it would atleast give these two a reason to start over as friends then couples instead of them continuing being fiances. It just feels odd and it could be better if they could communicate clearly bc from the point of view of a reader, you feel annoyed on the FL's behalf knowing they're in a situation they didnt ask for and was actively trying to avoid because the ML wanted her to be close to him i guess given how he said lines how he wanted FL to feel the safest with him.

no youre completely right, it doesn't make sense when this guy hasnt done anything wrong. you cant fault him for being ignorant of the fls situation when 1) she was away for years, he had no way of talking with her, 2) its not like her family told him about anything or he knew how she was being treated, 3) you cant call him a bad guy for things that happened in the future, most likely unintentionally, and most DEFINITELY will not happen again, because he will not allow her to be in harms way in any way shape or form. the FL doesnt avoid his affection bc she hates him, she avoids him because she knows the future and that her life may be in danger being around him. again, how is HE supposed to KNOW THAT? i genuinely believe that if fl thought her life was not in danger anymore, she would not be awkward around him. the hate feels so forced — I guess i can see where some people are coming from, especially if they dont like the puppy type ml, but i don't understand how the majority of people share that same view point. hes the soft puppy needy type but also strong and swears to protect her and make her happy? whats not to like?? i really dont see where people get the idea of him being pushy, arrogant and inconsiderate from. he was a young boy/teenager when he first heard that the engagement to the love of his life was being cancelled one-sidedly, and he believed it was being cancelled bc fl was sick and couldnt bare children, not that it was her own choice, so of course he didnt want to go through with it. maybe im similar to you and also biased towards the puppy archetype, but even after reading peoples reasoning it sounds like nonsense to me
Wth I thought that this story was fine and boom almost all of the comments hating on the ml. Personally ml didn’t do anything major to make me hate him it’s just the father that was a fuckass. Idc ab the fuckass father he can go fuck himself with his coldass. Whatever excuse he gives I won’t reason with it. Maybe I’m blind to the red flags bcs I’m such a loser for yearner puppy like ml. I just don’t see nothing wrong with his actions. If he has to act like an attached dog to win the fl’s love then so be it. Isn’t it what anyone should do to get their crushes to love them back? idk man
