Basically, his dad is going to get married to the guy's mom, and they are calling themselves brothers, but they're fucking college age. They're not blood related, didn't grow up together, and aren't obligated to view each other as siblings imo, not saying you can't view ppl you meet later in life as family, but that's something that can't be imposed
even if they arent blood related or didn't grow up in the same environments theyre related by name, I consider step siblings as family and deciding to begin that kind of relationship after just meeting(and being introduced as stepsiblings) is weird to me and what I personally consider as incest, but if you like seeing stepsiblings fuck eachother that's u, keep it to yourself
Ig everyone views this differently, if they'd become step siblings as kids and grown up together I'd totally agree with you, but since they're adults, I think it's unfair of their parents to just bring in a whole stranger home and say "that's your new family" and expect them to just suddenly see each other as brothers, even if they're happy for their parents, bonds can't just be created in the blink of an eye. In my mind they're two adults who just met and there's nothing that dictates they can't develop romantic feelings for each other, even if the situation isn't ideal. Maybe it's bc I'm trying to think how I'd feel in a situation like this? I'm not romantically inclined in general, but if my mom decided to marry again rn I'd obviously support her, BUT I wouldn't view her partner as my parent (I'm 25, there's no parenting to be done anymore) and I wouldn't immediately view his family as my family either, simply bc idk these ppl, maybe over the years, I could develop that feeling with time, but my mind just can't wrap around the fact that just bc my mom entered a relationship, I'm now obligated to love a bunch of ppl I never met before
