They saw each other when they were 18 and 14 but Ryo (the top) started developing feelings when he was 18 and Kanta (bottom) 22, that's when he confessed too. But Kanta told him to start slow in a 'trial' period first after seeing how sincere Ryo was being.

Just to make things more clear if you got misled, the bottom is 18 at the start of the story and they have a 2 year time skip so he turns 22 and the top is 18 then

the replies are kinda wrong, so i'll give you the accurate information since you're willing to give it a shot: they met when ryo's 14 and kanta's 17. main story starts a year later with ryo 15 and kanta 18. they first fucked when ryo's 16 and kanta's 18. two year time skip: ryo's 18 and kanta's 20 (kanta's birthday is on oct 29, so he isn't 21 until the next chapter which takes place in dec). then another two year time skip which makes ryo 20 and kanta 23 (assuming his birthday passed). tl;dr, three year age gap. i'll be fr with you, the maturity gap between a 15/16 year old and a 18 year old isn't much and they both treat each other like equals anyways. an 18 year old isn't a "fully grown adult."

it just seems that they started getting together when they were still a first year high school and college student, and it just doesn't feel right.
