I think some of the reason why he stil can't help but keep her caged is because she hasn't opened up about how her life with her family actually was like. He has so many assumptions about how she is and should behave as a nobleman's daughter that he can't she her for how she really is.
I too hope he will soon realize this, I had hoped he would without her telling him the truth, but by now I think that that's probably what will be the real trigger.
I haven't read the novel, so I don't know, I'm just guessing.
while riftan’s anger is valid, there is truth to maxi’s reasonings. everyone is risking their lives not just her. status shouldn’t and doesn’t matter. if she can help, why stop her? im proud of her for standing on that.
seeing her grow is so satisfying. shes badass and shes proving it.
i hope riftan will soon grow more and allow her to flourish the way shes trying to. his worry is understandable but he will end up caging her if he doesnt start trying to see things the way she’s presenting them. overprotective behavior can quickly turn into over-controlling.
