I don't know if I'm alone but I don't really see the past chapter as a redemption arc.
In a story like this where JK treated Dan like trash for more than 50 chapters, it's obvious that it's not because he realized now how awful he was that it means everything is forgotten or forgiven. I don't think we need to forgive or forget what he did to enjoy that now he's slowly trying to change. I'm enjoying the story because now the characters are changing and it's good to see that. Now I don't know how Dan will react but I'm curious because now this boy needs some happiness
