this. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. Like is she i tentionally on meds or mild poison that won't kill her but gets her daughter to leave her safe place? Why is she so unappologetic about abonding a baby to deal with the elements? How did she even know it was her kid that discovered and sheltered by the church?

Wooooah! It sucks how it went down, but I can't wait to find out who exactly helped her (probably the church trying to entrap her using her gift) and why.
Her healing powers are their target and the king want to used it to live longer, the king is a very bad person that won't afraid in abusing and using a child for he's own satisfaction.
Just my thoughts
I have a feeling the high priest or the king are behind the "mother's" sudden appearance, trying to use that fatal illness to force her to finally use her powers.
