villianising casual relationships

maybe it's cause I'm stupid and naive and also don't have much experience, but it's so frustrating when one character clearly states that they want something casual but are shown as the villain for that cause the other character likes them. obviously I'm not talking about the cases where the former is an asshole but I see this happening even when they're not and have communicated that they're not looking for anything serious.

idk I find it weird. would love to hear more takes on thus

    i read a story that started off exactly like this u might like it lol it's called "Love Works in Mysterious Ways". regarding what you said before i agree; if the person states they don't want anything serious and the person decides to go along w it but later gets jealous bc they end up falling for them, there's no one to blame but themselves because the person alr gave their conditions and they agreed to it
