Yea it's a very weird way of a character breaking the 4th wall, which is always a disappointment in terms of story telling. Even in Pandora hearts, it was just horribly done. Absolutely no way to execute it right without leaving plot holes or lasting feelings of disappointment in the audience

He went "nope" and just nullified ALL the story building, the plot and the whole work.
If I wanted to feel frustrated and disappointed, I would have just spend that time watching Trump's missed bullet.
