I know it's pointless to ask but why did they think, specially the "empress" that he could fool the emperor by conceiving a "royal heir" when it's very evident from the story that they've never laid tgt?

That's not what I meant, obviously he knows but the empress knows that the emperor is bat shit crazy so to do something like this is basically taking a huge gamble
