Yes she has the potential to be independent but 3 decades of unresolved trauma just stops her potential from coming true. Additionally, we're barely near the end so don't expect for the independent Haesu yet (and it's not easy to be independent especially if you have been depending on someone your whole life + low self esteem).

You clearly don't understand the impact of trauma to a person. Traumatic experience like hers can affect cognitive function and that includes the "common sense". It doesn't matter how long you live, if you don't heal yourself, you won't regain yourself fully.

You're actually the one who doesn't understand her and her struggles and continues to be insensitive with her situation. The trauma she had affected how her brain works, her decision making and judgement, and if you don't know, common sense literally means "the ability to think and behave in a reasonable way and to make good decisions". So she keeps on making stupid decisions because of how her trauma altered her brain and her ability to decide.

Even children don't think like her. Children are actually sharp, give them the credit. Anyways, you're lucky if you haven't met any adult that thinks like Haesu and makes stupid decisions that should actually just be common sense. Because I met a lot of them and they are way older than 30. And their common denominator? Unhealed trauma.

So what if they fucked multiple times. Fucking doesn't heal you from your trauma. It's not some magical medicine that will suddenly heal you.

Instead of blaming the author for making a character that is actually realistic and makes sense for her background and struggles, I think you should first improve your reading comprehension and media literacy.
