In japanese the word "love" is actually 3 different words with different levels of feelings. So the translation should have said "like" or "really like" vs romantic love.

The inner dialogue is so inconsistent. Do you love her or don't you?? The same with Chloe's dialogue.
Not that a push and pull is unrealistic, but they choose to use the word "love" and then suddenly step back into like as though that was always the case fhhdjsks
