Wait so amon actually is a god? I thought he was a demon/monster the people belived to be a god and he just took on that role..
Welp based on what I'm reading here, it seems like he is a God, or if it's a monster, given his impossible prowess and phy strength. Regardless, he only adores Nain but cannot fully comprehend what he wants and only showers him with extravagance.
I want to believe that Amon was influenced by the priests too. It's my personal theory that if Amon wasn't enticed to play god by this country's nobility he wouldn't have given a damn about it all.
It seems like the upper class, like that main priest guy, intentionally manipulated or twisted things in a way that would allow them to bask in riches, rituals, and perpetuate all these sacrifices for their own entertainment/benefit. Amon doesn't seem to care for the rituals themselves and only really reacts when it's about Nain or it's someone/thing unusual like Gwen.
He is so far up on the pyramid that he can't see the ground. When some priest tells him his husband is gonna be delighted by ritual slaughter he has no reason to doubt it and let's it happen, and said husband can't really claim otherwise because he fears rejection and is under public pressure.
That's my take anyway.
1. Gwen is an implied transmigrator coz no way in hell are we gonna ignore his "magic".
2. Nain being brainwashed is so suspicious of me and I feel like Amon is involved to prevent Nain to off himself.
3. Amon is an ass but he truly adores Nain so much that it pains me he cannot fully comprehend human emotions (he's a God so ofc nothing rly matters atp)
4. I'm glad to know it's a 3P ending but I'm rly rooting just for Gwen since it seems like he fully understood that Main needs freedom not being chained under Amon's influence and ideal of love. Gwen sees Nain as a person — humane, foolish, humble, and kind for this sick continent (full of fanatics).
