Actually, the entire reason the mc approached Dallae was because he was curious (if he was a hybrid, his hybrid×people love story, and whether he was from the canine-family.) From the moment they met, he was mostly interested in the hybrid aspect. He never slept with his other authors, but his 'curiosity' led him to sleeping with ml in the beginning. Even Dallae acknowledges that the mc is probably only interested in his body. "I don't care if you're using me (for right now), i hope you come to just see ME." Dallae is really tragic to me, because from the start, he knew mc only saw him as a fuck buddy but hoped it would become something genuine. Dallae finds older men attractive, which was why he was so turned on by mc upon first meeting, but mc's praise of his work made him so happy which was why he got so attached. Whereas for MC, it took a lot more chapters to see Dallae as a romantic prospect. The hybrid-only thing has actually been the basis of their relationship, so while the brothers entrance into the story is abrupt, the nature of Dallae & MC's relationship needed to be addressed for a while. Dallae's brother is actually the one who made him think of his relationship with MC critically despite his earlier lack of self respect. (In the first season.)

did you forget mc has previous trauma from relationships? the whole point is that mc DOESNT only like ml for his canine esc and he grew to love him, hes just not accepting of it because of his past heartbreak. hes in denial, and its obvious his feelings have changed from seeing ml as a fuck buddy. thats the whole reason for his conflict in recent chapters. and what we can infer from the previous chapters is that ml wont recognize their relationship because of his trauma. yes he was curious as first, but from what we can see from chapters it was never for sexual reasons. ml’s brother is reaching, trying to seperate them with false basis just because ml has only dated hybrids. and in the story, it says its common for hybrids for hide their hybrid sides, so its not hard to think that someone mc HAS dated hid their hybrid sides from him, just in theory. idk, im still firm on ml’s brother just trying to find a reason to separate ml and mc. its obvious hes a bro-con. and as a minority myself i understand what ur saying, being treated as a fetish. but after all

Ik its just fiction, i just thought it was weird that the author made very clear allegories for black experiences then tried to make mc look innocent. The brother is just scared for his brother, as he even says he was pushed into crime due to being stereotyped and just decided to give into those ideas. Honestly, the hybrid thing falls flat, because like in examples like DBH and zootopia, they make different species an allegory for racism.. which leads to problematic implications. The MC strictly wanted a fuck buddy in the beginning, and promised to consider Dallae's feelings later, after he finished the novel. (But he even said himself he was going to reject him up until he caught feelings.) Tbh, i think the author probably wanted to add more depth, but by accident, made mc look like a chaser. So, i get their intent isnt to make mc a bad guy, just to add conflict.

I usually never comment, but i feel like i have to, the way people dismiss the brother's argument. The hybrids have a clear allegory for POC (specifically, black experiences). Imagine an asian guy only dating black ppl. Could it be written off as preference? Sure. But race play is a common, controversial kink/fetish. Its very prominent with the "BBC" label in porn/smut. I dunno, the way people in the comments try and write off the implications makes me feel... icky. Maybe I'm just reading into things though. Finding out he's only ever dated hybrids also made me raise my brow. As someone who has dealt with being approached purely for fetish and sexual purposes, i totally resonated with him. And I think it's valid for him to be upset. (Also, him having an older man kink is NOT the same as protagonist only dating hybrids. It's weird people are treating that like its the same thing.)
