this story is so interesting to me in terms of the psychology of the characters. particularly Heeryang's. I think he can't deal with other people's lack of "conviction" in their feelings toward him: Yeonjo hates him, but not enough to have gone over his guilt toward his friend and let him die in order to complete his revenge toward Heeryang, and loves him but not enough to have given up his desire for revenge or his disgust with himself for such feelings. and Yeonjo's self hatred was not bad enough to have made him take his own life, in the end. basically, Heeryang wants to be the source of the strongest emotion in Yeonjo, even if that emotion is bad, I think. this happened with other characters too: his dad cared for him enough to give him better opportunities, but banished him when he started to bother his wife and legitimate son. his step mom did not completely hate him, she treated him well before he started outsmarting his stepbrother. and his friend from school ended up turning against him. I think he can't deal with people not sticking with a lane when it comes to him: either pure hatred or pure love, but that's just me theorizing. I wonder how he feels about his biological mom giving him up and sending him to his father to have a better life.
