I know people are saying that the story isn't moving forward and what feels like stuck in one place. But if you were to analyze the ml, you can tell that what mc wants is practically happening to him. The ml does feel tortured, like mentioned in this chapter, he has never felt this sick and disgusted of himself. The mc is a constant, glaring reminder of what he has done and he can't escape it. It's starting to slowly break him down and make him loose his sanity, as it's started to show with what he did with the governor, which mc himself stated that it was out of ml's character/not like him to act this irrationally. I'm making an educated guess that this might be the beginning of his downfall, the only unfortunate part, is that he will probably drag the mc down with him. If this story ends tragically, I think it will be one hell of a bitter ending.
