The manga itself seems really personal to the author, but it’s also a beautiful description of existing systems and expectations, in which he was raised.

I think this manga explores the notion of love and romance in a society, where women’s value or ‘femininity’ is measured by how much desire—‘lust’ they can invoke in a man. What does this dynamic look like for teenagers? So what happens when a male likes a male? Or when a female cannot “get love” through evoking lust or desirability?. I think if you keep these thoughts in mind, a lot their actions make sense. I’m not justifying character, but I want folks to think beyond, I like character or I dislike this character.
