When he invites him over to his house and Incheol leaves he literally says something along the lines of him taking care of business with me and just leaving. He wants a connection and knows it’s there because he holds onto the memories from his childhood. I still think it’s love even if it’s just nostalgia. Incheol is gonna break his heart and them have to earn it back I have a feeling thats how this might go.

Anyone will be uncomfortable with being used as just a sexual object by the one that they fancy, it not really about "love".
And holding hands is kinda meh to be honest.
It's still a gesture of love but it's not nearly enough for me, there's no yearning, no desperation (like I like it not in general because ml is pretty desperate) no middle ground that they could start on, and absolutely not an ounce of chemistry.
I just expected A LOT from this author. and even the plot that you suggested (and it's seems to be the best outline of their story) is not nearly as interesting or special as their other work.
Most of the time I just drop what I don't like without any criticism but I am getting really drained with how the new works are all taking the same easy route: noncon + possessive seme and WOAH! SUCCESS !
And the fact that the writers can write so much better just add a lot of salt on this wound.
Sorry for the long ranting; I am just too thirsty for some complicated, interesting, good stories; that also have some smut and fluff in them.. and this author could've given me that but they decided not to :((
I'm hoping the success of series like Our Sunny Days may encourage authors to try that direction :/ You can have enjoyable series with healthy pairings. Series like MDZS and TGCF also show you can have interesting series without non-con, though the latter is only finished in novel form

Mdzs gave me so much hope for a change because it got the attention that it deserves, but unfortunately what came on top after it are all the same noncon shit.
Dark themed stories are not the worst if they're done right but it's sad how they are slowly becoming the only option. (If you like fluffy stories please check Fools, it's so sweet and it kills me everyday that it's not known enough T^T)
I'm actually really picky about fluffy/slice of life things. I'm surprised Our Sunny Days kept my attention so well because of it, but it's so likable that I just get hooked
But yeah. There can be darkness in a story without noncon. I hate that rape gets used like that in dark themes in normal media too. Like, stories can be dark and have drama that aren't linked back to rape. Idk why it's a "drama device" in all media

MDZS = Mo Dao Zu Shi (it has a donghua, manhua, novel, AND live action (The Untamed/CQL) and is my favorite
TGCF = Tian Guan Ci Fu, English name is Heaven Official's Blessing. It has a completed novel and unfinishied donghua + manhua. It also has a live action put on pause. They are trying to work around Chinese censorship laws
Both ML are green flags, never forceful, and really respect MC (who are strong willed and competent). The plots are also plots that...like, aren't just focused on romance. Dark, with some mystery. They're fantasy/historical/supernatural

Ch 9 and we still have no sign of them standing each other at least let alone loving each other, the ml don't love mc that much, or at least his actions and thoughts aren't that romantic, maybe he loved him when they were children (it was so sweet) but now it's just him wanting a piece of ass,
The mc isn't my type of character too but I feel like he can be so much better with someone else.
At this point it's just the plot forcing them to be together; there's no chemistry at all.
I'll let it marinate for a while rn.
