I still don’t understand the whole saving memory concept, prolly cuz I don’t understand what a cassette player is so they insert a tape when the game starts, to save their memories and progress and I know that the cassette player changes location every round so they gotta find it but what I don’t understand is the tape part. Do they have to keep the tape in the cassette player for the whole game until they die and if so, is the tape going to be in the same cassette player when they look for the cassette player next round or they have to find their own tape as well? And if that’s the case, how many cassette players are there cuz if they keep it in the whole game and when they die, doesn’t it stay in the whole time and nobody else will be able to put theirs in? Is there one for each player? And if not, do they insert the tape, take it out and it is automatically saves the whole game? I’m so lost with this please explain if u do

    My understanding is:
The tape needs to be in the player (and not stopped) when a round starts to save their memories.
There is one cassette player per map.
Cassettes stay in the cassette player unless removed.
When a characters save is updated the old tape disappears.
If cassette player contains the tape of a charcter who has completed the map the cassette player can be moved (even outside its map) and will spawn in its last position rather than randomly.
If character A's tape is removed and characters B's tape is put in the cassette player, character A will not have their memories saved but their tape will persist to future rounds.

The one player a map thing is why the characters split up so often in the early rounds. They each needed to find a different map and save their progress. The hiatus after chapter 50 has useful info about how the saving works.

Just so I got it, after they insert their tapes it disappears so the next player can insert theirs? So next round how do they find their individual tapes again so they can save their progress? Or do they just get brand new tapes and it automatically updates itself snd saves the new memories?

It's pretty hard to explain but here's a doc gathered by some readers, some concepts are explained too: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fyfND0KcEKCLjX-4X9l66b9U6diWfaakpy1NOWcA8mY/edit?usp=drivesdk

When they update their saves they take out their old tape and put in a new blank one. This old tape then dissappears in the next round.
