Got whiplash when I started over from the side stories to the beginning, MC went from playboy to baby girl. It’s realistic in that sense MC is rotten with a little pinch of character development, they’re in their 30’s and MC has been treating ML as lesser for over a decade. He did soften up at the end, but I’m satisfied that he didn’t get a visual happy ending and that he would have to wait and suffer for ML. (I do feel a little bit bad for ML that he has to go back to waiting/separation, but at least now he has MC’s heart and promise to be together when he comes back)
But there was more MC could’ve done, like at least be more regretful about how MC treated ML, be grateful that ML took care of him when they were studying abroad, and wish that he chased ML at least a little bit instead of ML following the whole time as his loyal dog all the time.
But I guess that’s the point of the title, ML counterattacking / chasing after all this time. And MC did change, wanting to let ML go (twice!) and live normal lives without regrets but failed (how is he not scared or creeped out by ML at all, from his stalking to his death threats. There’s seriously something wrong with both their heads haha)
As another reader said, ML is literally a saint (or at least definitely a masochist to MC’s sadist) to put up with all of MC’s antics for so long. I wish he snapped at least once (since he’s stronger and would regret hurting MC, finally deciding to leave for good, only for MC to come looking for him and beg to stay together) but closest we’ll ever get is when he dominates MC in bed haha.
Or maybe if they switched once, if ML snaps and rides MC while saying something like “I love you so much, I’m willing to do this for you”. I wish he had a darker, hidden mastermind side like he planned this act all along, but he’s just a pushover obsessive idiot following his first love.
My heart literally hurt so much while reading about ML pinning for him, his girlfriends being stolen because MC was paying attention to him, suffering while watching MC kiss other girls, planning dates but not dates, and sharing one-sided moments of sweetness. The lighter in chapter 2 (kinda wish he sneakily engraved a message or initials on it hnng)! ML deserves to top after going through all of that!
Still wanted more out of the side stories, like ML’s pov when they reunited in ch 1 (he was smiling at MC but clearly uncomfortable, almost as if thinking “I was doing so well, why did he have to show up”), how he got engaged, and also MC’s friend’s wedding - did he go? Did they go together??? Probably not haha
MC doesn’t deserve him and needs to suffer/regret more (the last chapter did not have enough!), but ML wants him so he gets to keep him.
