Honestly? Market saturation imo... we have a lot of rofan... like too much... they take 2y+ to end so... they accumulate and we read like at least 30 different ones at the same time... for so long... that we start to get nitpicky about it...
To me is kinda like... trying to read one of those high-school mangas after learning about rofan manhwas... the manga is not bad... but stars to feel... cringe and full of secondhand embarrassment?
More than cute or wholesome I appreciate more focus being given to the ML. Feels more like both are MCs instead of her being MC and him just the love interest...

man if you dont like something, dont read it. its as simple as that, there is no need for these little shits to bitch about it in the comment section and ruin the mood of people that like wholesome stuff

Well... that was more explaining why readers have mecome more nitpicky lately... as an answer to your question... at least that's why I've become like that. I love to read rofan, it's one of my favorite genres, but at some point seeing the same stereotype and clichés in so many stories makes you more critical of them and that tends to reflect in the comments section. Because that's where we get to talk about it.
I do get your frustration tho. It's a pain when we like the story and the comments section is a bucket of cold water full of criticism... my heartfelt advice is to usually avoid the comments section unless you're ready to ignore what's being said there. I'm also guilty of almost never going there to compliment the story, it's usually to complain about it. ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄
On the other hand... I usually go there before reading. Knowing what the main complaints are help me deciding if it's worth risking reading or not. I usually avoid the stories where they complain a lot about mc's personality. Specially if it's about them being the supposedly smart but real dumb type. Or if the plot is wonky, full of holes or based in misunderstandings all the time.
All in all... the sensation of reading something expecting to like it but disliking it is stronger than reading it and liking it. If you genuinely like the story is best to avoid the comments as to not be angered...

Mhm it's sad some ignorant people that bitch about evrything have to come and ruin the mood for the ones that enjoy wholesome stuff. Although I don't think I'll ever stay away from CS cuz if I like a story I gotta express it but I get your point. People that aren't happy with themselves never let others be happy either :(
