Isn't ml an asshole? He intentionally led fmc and child through an entrance that would make the empress be aware, even though ml is fully aware he doesn't even have the power to protect their lives, all to get the fmc to stay. Then essentially holds the child hostage so she stays.
I can imagine the plot will basically be fmc and child trying to avoid being assassinated and endure harassment for most chapters. Selfish ass ml not caring about their well-being
