The author really acknowledged common toxic "cute" tropes. Such as the "ML was saved by MC and now worships him as his savior" and "met as kids and couldn't ever forget MC and fell deeply in love". It sounds cute in theory and is used in many stories especially BL. However, it isn't good IRL and it gets toxic. MC knows what he means to ML and he really likes him but ML starts says things like "you saved me/ bc of you I could stop taking my meds". And when he found out the truth and avoid ML, ML began to go down a spiral and stopped taking care of himself. MC realized that it's an obsession that can slowly turn into hatred, ML obviously denies that but when MC breaks up with him fr he starts getting dark thoughts like keeping him all to himself and realizes he needs help bc MC was right. The story takes the approach of ML taking therapy and slowly begin able to take care of himself without MC, he still loves him and they get together fr after he gets better. I really like this story bc it knows that ML was having a dangerous mentality even though other stories may call it cute and he gets the help he deserves!!
I don’t know why ML is going to such lengths to hide his identity from MC, but I don’t like it. Since I started this story, this is the first time I’ve felt dislike toward ML. I’m afraid they’ll drag this on for too long.
