Thank you for replying. Unfortunately this is not the one I was looking for. It was within a college setting not high school. The friend was also one who kept on changing girlfriends, humorously due to the fact that he may have liked the MC.

I read a BL a while back and damn did I forget the title. It's a short Japanese manga (whether it's a oneshot or not I totally do not remember).
Anywho the MC is in love with his best friend (since childhood or high school) and pined for him so much the ML notices.
The breaking point is when the friend reveals that he has a lover. This ML then proposes that they have a fake relationship, and we see that he has been in love with the MC for some time.
After a while the MC actually falls for ML during the course of their relationship (I forgot if he realized it). One day, he meets up with his friend, who tells MC that he thought he might have been in love with MC back then, which is what triggered his playboy tendencies because of some sort of denial. ML overhears this and leaves on the spot, clearly crushed that his love might never be reciprocated. But the friend reveals that he senses something different between both ML and MC. And he feels like he is a father giving away his daughter for marriage.
Later if I remember ML tells MC that he overheard the conversation, if I remember he triend to end the relationship, but MC clarifies that their friend just felt happy that they were getting along better than before, and that the person MC is in love with is now the ML. They make up and become an official couple.
