I totally agree with you, but if you want a character who is overweight but is a cutie patootie, The Day I Was Born Into a Ducal House, I Was Branded as a Disqualified Heir, but I'm Still Living Well to This Day!
is good! All the characters (except the bad guys obv) are so cute and sweet
They use it as a storytelling device. In stories like these everyone is conveniently skinny and fit, characters that aren't twigs are because they "overindulge" it's supposed to symbolise abuse of power.
But even tho there's a reason why... It's still pretty sucky...
Yeah. One of the laziest forms lol. Good = pretty and bad = ugly. I can tell a story is going to be mid or bad if they resort to using photypes or looks to tell u a character is good or bad. Like it signals low intelligence to me
i mean you also gotta think that back in this typa history, if ur able to be heavy u had a lot of influence and money, so u could eat all day unlike the poorer people who couldn't procure the same amount of food. this 'evil' child is fat cuz hes been overindulged by his rich mom etc. showing his status. ANDDDD in a lot of chinese dramas and historical kdramas its always the women scheming in the court lol, so it's not just a manhwa thing (and asian stories have always discriminated others thru looks so its hard to escape it (especially koreans... their stories can give u every type of discrimination in one chapter)) (●￣(ｴ)￣●)
Why is every villain in these types of stories: women that are normally aunts, moms, or siblings with the main character or overweight? I can’t recall a character that was overweight and not a childish like villain. And what’s up with women always being the sub or main villain for really no reason or than “they were jealous”. Every. Single. Time.
