i was thinking the same thing!! she’s evil n all that but it’s the fault of her psycho mom AND her father who essentially disliked her existence since birth. she was left to the devices of one evil parent and the other one just left her alone w her mom essentially? even though he suspected the mom of doing shady shit? the emperor also played a role in making her a “villain” and even despite her bad behavior the author didn’t do a great job of making me think she’s totally evil.
The emperor may be regretting how he treated her biological daughter but that doesnt really erase the fact that he's still being neglectful, even when it's directed to azella. The moment he married another woman, the child is his too. And because he hates the red hair btch, he neglects azella. The emperor's character is irony itself
Well, Azuela is actually an evil spirit, not the Emperor's child and not even human. She has no kindess whatsoever. Thats her nature. The Empress sure is just making her more twisted but even without the Empress being a constant fuel-adder Azuela would still grow to be jealous of others and selfish. Sure she believed the Empress's bullshit about her being the real owner of the power, but its just a fuel to the fire. She already is greedy and cruel by nature. They make her look more timid here but in the novel they showed that she is nothing like a child who is simply jealous that theres someone to take her place. She enjoys causing pain, she finds joy in destroying everything and everyone and wants to be only admired if shes not - she turns instantly into a heartless monster who would cut someone's head just for fun. Shes not an innocent child. Its an inhuman creature who just pretends to be human and will never feel anything similiar to kindness or regret - she not capable of it
Well the emperor probably has some knowledge/at least suspicions that she is t his actual daughter given his aloofness towards her and the fact that his and the princes spirit posters don’t resonate with her so they feel no kinship towards her, with is a key aspect of spirit power that binds them all together.
Also it’s been mentioned especially based on what we’ve seen recently of her true nature in the current timeline regardless of her circumstances her heart is black, and she is twisted, cruel, and corrupt by nature

As a teen, I've read a lot of manhwa plot like this where they use the 'sister' or literally any other son or daughter of the enemy as one of the main villain for child mc stories. And I've always hated then to heart to the point of wanting them to die lol (yeah I take these stories to heart) but looking at it now, azella is a pitiful child actually, she wouldn't even be an evil character if her mother wasn't abusive. I honestly pity that child.
