All this asshole had to do was figure out how to stick that baby girl somewhere in the court where she would be happy, never want to leave, and he'd have her father forever. Get her engaged to the heir to the kingdoms son or something. Declare he his own heir. Do what he had to do to ensure she was tied to him and his palace.
He is WAY over complicating things and it's going to fuck him over.
