To preface, there doesn't seem to be an original published novel for the plot, so everything is original. Therefore, the progression of the plot's ending can seem pretty lacking and rushed, especially when season 1 had 50 chapters and second season ended in 30 chapters.
I'll start with the positives that aren't spoilery:
Give me more regressing duos! It was refreshing to read a story where the MC doesn't regress alone. (It's also sort of plot hole and I do have some complaints, but I'll get into that later.)
The leads are super cute. I always love a good old protector x target, warrior x mage, smart and revenge-seeking character falling for the strong-front and bright heroine.
Okay, now for spoiler territory and complaints:
The villian face-off was definetly anti-climatic. It took place in a building, and seeing how obvious the setting was, felt lacking.
I mean, the main couple got together and it was cute, but my traditional ro-fan heart demands wedding art!
Also, they really could’ve extended it more to conclude the rest of the characters or address the other plot holes. It kinda feels like the author didn't know how to end it other than for MC and left it to us to fantasize. Which is kinda good in the way we can't hate the cannon ending, but still lazy on their part.
Especially for Roseanne, who is supposed to be the second FL - I'm always sad when the "original couple" doesn't end up together, but this open ending doesn't make me feel good either. understand why she might not agree to being engaged as soon as possible since he has no idea that they ve been together for multiple lifetimes, and I do believe that they would still end up together, but I would like to see a little of that development as a side story if only to fuel my hopes haha. My personal headcannon is that he chases after her and they'll have a healthier / wholesome love story instead of the tragic sole-survivor who found love (with the enemy) story.
(As the one responsible for the kingdom’s downfall, the ruler [wtf the design so androgynous] deserved to be plagued with visions of the OG MC’s actions. Karma delivered justice to that bitch)
But then what would happen to the other plot hole? Women becoming knights and potentially becoming heirs / heads of families? The author really just threw that in to make it interesting and was like "yeah, we're not coming back to that / going to clarify this"??? It was sort of implied that Rose would do something, but we don't get to see the results. I would settle for a cheap "yeah this happened/we did this" instead of "mentioned to get an mysterious character to play a role/support". What about the rest of the female knights? Her childhood tsundere friend-enemy? Hello???
(She wrote a book that became popular and a good influence, but I would’ve liked to see more of the impact.)
Either Rose would beg her brother (who didn't die, but we don't know how well he recovered) which I've seen before, or become queen herself. Open to interpretation or headcannons
Also the regession duo complaint. The OG MC had a desperate wish to save her family on the night of her friend's wedding, and was granted chances by the kingdom's treasure. She then tries 99 times to save her family and kingdom but fails everytime. (My two nickles for red-head regressing MCs). Also kinda reminds me of “Death Is The Only Ending For The Villainess / Villains Are Destined to Die” but it is the OG who works hard for a happy ending.
She realizes that she can't save the kingdom herself. so he summons a strong soul (MC) who can. She also pulls some kind of hack where Rose will regress with MC so they can save the kingdom together.
My beef is why couldn't the original regress with Rose instead of pulling MC into this, but my thought is also that she might’ve went crazy after all those attempts, and she didn't want to scare Rose (or look insane in front of her) so she pulls someone else in to start with a clean slate. Which is MC's cheat that her helper Rose also connects her with another helper, ML.
Again, still kind of messed up that the OG leads don t get together since the regression happened on their wedding night (isn't that a bit selfish of OG MC?), but it's implied that they could start anew, and the girl's familes and kingdom are alive, so I guess that's better than the original.
And Rose also had similar regrets on her wedding about her family and kingdom not being there to witness, so that makes it sughtly better.
This is a personal gripe, but as much as l adored the main romance, I would've liked to see side romances too with all these characters. At least Enoch has someone who wants him (give me that side self-insert story hana) but besides the princess there's literally no one else. Mc has so many brothers, but not one found love. I would ve liked to see the the rejected fangirl end up with another brother - the drama! LOL
I was bored and desperate enough to want to ship ML's servants / aides. If ykyk haha.
Finally, the title of the story. I'm not sure if it's because the modern understanding of it but it feels weird when it's a fantasy world setting. Like it starts with the OG leads walking down on a red carpet in the beginning, and the ending talks about walking down a red carpet when MC and ML get together (which implies they'll get married?).
MC has red hair, which kinda ties in? Not really??
I've heard of "flowery path", but I'm not sure if Red Carpet is supposed to have a similar or some kind of meaning that I'm not aware of??? Or maybe I'm just overthinking it hahaha
