I think that maybe he was just "special", he was strong so he was capable of trap uroro and the Magic uroro have just allowed him to use magic

Think it’s cause men are not able to touch the magik, since in the bakugami arc they mentioned how it was wired that all the citizens where able to touch the magik and give away their sadness, but the truth was that it’s not the main body. I think ichi was able to hunt other magik only because Uroro made the test be that he can only be hunted by a male. Just speculation from reading and guessing but I think the trials have to be within the realm of possibility, someone out there could accomplish it, it’s just the matter of difficulty and finding out the loop hole and such since magik seems fickle. Since Uroro made his condition to be that a male hunts him, I think he made himself vulnerable to it. Don’t think he consider that any man going to hunt him since they can’t hunt other magik. But ichi did, and now he have magic, which allows him to touch and hunt other magik.

Maybe I missed somethings but how is he able to have Magiks other than uroro ? The other magik trials aren't about bieng a boy, is it bc he has uroro so he became officially a "witch" so he can hunt magik ?
