Not honestly worse because the emotional damage is on par with pick me up and both manhwas have unique plot to tackle, just that pick me up MC have more rationale to humane moments while defense game have more humane to rationale moments. If that ever makes sense so continue to read it and support both works because they are both a masterpiece and don't need comparison. (Forgive the lack of comma and wrong grammar.)
it has potential i think but before Ash goes to the capital it has almost no depth and contradicts itself a few times. after level 3 youll learn the truth of this world? ok that didnt happen lol. oh living armor is the worst thing that coulda happened for stage 1? okay then why when the other option wyverns attack on stage 6 is that now the worst thing instead of living armor. it means wyverns woulda wiped em in stage 1 yet living armor was the worst scenario? ill give it some time but pick me up clears this no contest
Look I love pick me up but it's just so bland and generic. The mc literally looks like sung jinwoo or yoo jonghyuk (he shouldn't be in here but he is written as "stereotypical mc") or even black clover's Yuno. When will we all move on from cold hearted rational op mc? I agree with one of the comments talking about the distinction between humane and rationale. But yslat/loki is just so bland that the side characters carry the story. While I agree that the plot and pacing of pick me up might surpass tyrant of defense game, the whole premise and characters (especially Ash and all his craziness and existential crisis) are definitely so much more interesting
But of course this is just my take and everyone is free to prefer one story over another. Just blurting this to point out that this manhwa is good in its own right
im all caught up now and it's just down to personal preference i think. ive only found the actual plot intriguing in tower once and that was in the capital. the rest is predictable and boring for me and its a bit too goofy for my liking. its definitely good but in terms of what i enjoy it isn't anything special. i just think the plot and worldbuilding of pick me up carries so much harder especially when learning about some heroes relationships to the world. but tower defense is still newer and has a long way to go to catch up in chapters so like i said im not gonna like drop it or anything i do think the potential is very high.
pretty sure they meant the worst possible thing that could happen on this specific stage, because as you know, (small spoiler) the evil being has restrictions as to how much he can hinder mc and his team in a stage, which is what the mc discovers whilst progressing. (if I remember correctly, that is.) like, there are for example 3 choices of monsters that can pop up for stage 1 (reminder: only this specific stage) including living armor, and living armor just so happened to be the worst one to beat out of the 3 options (and so on for the other stages)
I mean, yeah, that’s like a level 50 against newbies, but doesn’t that apply to all games/stories?? You can’t just expect some newbies to go up against a boss in their first stage. Plus, i know it’s only an ‘if’, but that really can’t happen because of the restrictions. Not to be rude or anything, but this point u mentioned just doesn’t make sense to me, i don’t think there are that many plot holes. (And making the mc start strong in this type of story really doesn’t make sense, unless the plot is about something else)
lol! I just saw a topic about lotm earlier, what a coincidence! Lotm (Lord of the mysteries) is a really good novel that also has an anime adaption (only 1 season so far, which is equivalent to the 1st book). I've watched the anime and am planning on reading the novel. I think there's manhwa too but it's fan made and not official (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜

I am only a few chapters in but this just seems like a worse version of Pick Me Up. A lot of people have said it is great though so I'm going to keep reading it so i hope it's not overly corny because that's how it looks so far lol.
