I think if an alpha mark an omega, only that alpha's pheromones affect the omega and vise versa. If marking is done they need marked person for their rut and heat. Here chase marked josh so chase needs joshua but joshua didn't mark chase and josh got marked so his heat is bearable ( that's how it says in the story)

There maybe mistakes so pls correct me

I'm not 100% certain, since at some point the author made a few changes.
A dominant alpha can mark several omegas, but can only be marked by one omega, at least untill that omega dies. And an omega can mark only one alpha, but can be marked by several alphas. The mark on the omega can disappear. After being marked a dominant alpha iirc stops reacting to other omega's pheromones/ can't attract them. And the omega is much less affected by other alpha's pheromones.
For some pairs the markings doesn't seem to be important. It's kind of funny that Chase is the Miller who bit the first omega he was with, the one who hates the whole pheromones/instinct thing.lol While the other Miller's who's stories are known so far didn't mark their partners.
