So from what I understand K wanted to kill little A because he was getting in the way of his tests in trying to make all the people who turned into half animals, fully human again. But Q stopped him saying he'll take care of it. And I guess?? His way of taking care of it is still undisclosed... Or I don't see it. But at the ending Q reveals to little A that he and little A were part of the same sort of treatment, after killing the NPC so little A didn't have to leave. And this is just a guess but since Q and little A were part of the same "treatment" Q wants to keep him close? And make sure he doesn't leave the farm, as Q said "I'll make sure you stay Manager" or something like that. Someone can probably explain better but that's what I got from it. :P

This is what I’m getting from the story so it might be wrong cause this IS really confusing. The researcher was one of the ones that was experimenting on humans including children. The project was project Quentin. Project Quentin was designed to reform children who were “antisocial” which in this case is the correct use of the term (think personality disorders like psychopathy, sociopathy and bpd) and make them into productive people who can “love” and be “normal”. The research went too far. As all human research does. The child was dying. In order to save him, the researcher did something (assumedly to do with the animal-human hybrids so probably genetic engineering and manipulation of chromosomes) and that created little M. He used that to create Quentin. One of the two survivors of the program. Quentin just hinted that little A is also a Quentin child. Not sure if that’s what he meant or not but that’s how I understood it. The lab messed up and created hybrids so it tried to take the “useful” ones back for testing and discarded the rest which went to uncle A’s farm. Quentin views both the (now rogue) researcher and little A as benefactors and has an obsessive affection for both of them. The dude who came (NPC) is from the lab. They didn’t like that the hybrids were no longer cooperating with the labs requests (read this as demands) for milk and eggs and other animal products. They’re probably mad that the hybrids they rejected are thriving and have such a high output of high quality products. Since K stopped giving his eggs to the lab and M stopped being milked dry, the lab has been annoyed.

I still don’t really understand what happened to uncle A but I think he’s on the run from the lab OR he turned into a hybrid himself. I don’t really understand how a not insignificant population of the world became hybrids overnight if the lab created this but maybe it lied dormant (considering how old Quentin is now) and people procreated and the gene got passed down. Once again, this is just how I’ve understood the story and timeline so far. Feel free to correct me if I’m misunderstanding something!

No, you’re right but he isn’t K since K is the hen. I forgot his initial but the lab guy most likely feels bad cause he was part of the lab that created the hybrids while on the Quentin project. We still don’t have the ages of ANY of these characters so we can only assume K and Q and big M are all 27-35 maybe(?) so that’s definitely enough time for dormant engineered cells to wake up.
