I'd like to think they were trying to bless him but it could also be to free themselves from the curse, they have to give it up to someone else which is bad theory of me but still :)

I feel like in both your theories, if it was intended as a curse, it would have been better to curse some random heinous criminal than a good guy doing his best
Ikr so that's why I can't see it any other way than a blessing even tho it seems painful and sad
Yk, it really makes you think, who would curse this cutie patootie? Why? He wouldn't hurt anyone, he's just out there doing his best
Or did that person knew in advance how it'd turn out and intended it as a blessing?
