for probably a decade now, suae had been writing her spinoff webnovel "becoming the black rose of versailles" based off the formerly popular series "black rose of versailles", where in her spinoff novel, she writes a new ending that cindy (female lead, main character) ends up with grey instead of edward! using this as an analogy for the plot of OTL, you can see eunhyuk resembling edward as the original ending of "black rose of versailles" depicts edward and cindy falling in love, and then you can see dohwa as grey because he was the second male lead. continuing the analogy and suae's spinoff novel, you oughta keep in mind that she chose to write a different ending for the novel because she preferred grey and thought he deserved better. a popular debate in the OTL fandom regards which male lead represents grey, but if you read the chapters where suae and dohwa discuss the novel series and the webnovel she writes (ex, ch98, ch100) you'll see its dohwa who resembles grey the most. he's already the second male lead as is, and now in s2, dohwa has finally been given a chance.
personally, i think people forget that one of OTL's genres is supernatural (haru is proof) but again, it's important that you understand the title of suae's spinoff novel and the fact that she wrote it as "BECOMING the black rose of versailles" the uppercase text indicating that the novel comes to life (presumably)

guys soohwa has been hinted at since s1, stop hating on suae and be patient with the author the spinoff theory is evidently active, just reread otl if you're unsure and you'll see that all the signs have been there since the start
