I, myself, grew up in a single parent household, where I didn't really feel the love because of mental struggles with my parent. Even as someone who's old enough to comfort myself and see the issues in being jealous of others more fortunate, it still hurts to think that you didn't get that, and leaves deep insecurities.

woah, novel explains her and Aiden's relationship ( check my spoiler 4 more info ) and she actively works on evil to expand her influence and lighten the workload for others. remember, shes facing the end of the world while being under strict monitoring by her father. shes also supposed to act like a child, so she cant show her competence bcs 1. it ruins her facade, 2. now enemies wont underestimate her.
