to be honest, it wasn’t awful but it was extremely disappointing. It reminded me of the remarried empress but more explicitly the fact that both female characters have no depth towards them at all. The FMC is hinted to being abused or unloved as a child but is also from a powerful family, this is never explained or developed or shown how it has affected her as person. Additionally, the female antagonists is exactly like rashta, from a destitute background and taken advantage of by men all throughout the story. She lacks so much character that her role as a villainess wasn’t even that good, she barely harassed the FMC or interacted with her because it was intercepted by the emperor every single time. I truly despise how she killed herself after being manipulated and killed the emperor, and it makes it worse that she says so she can be with him in hell, like they really won’t let her have any personality without it centring men at all, despite her clearing being intelligent for a commoner. I found the male lead attractive and a green flag, but annoying that she doesn’t show any sign of competence, her one gift was “changing destiny”, but she didn’t have to have any learning or character development to be able to do this, she the perfect empress, was just able to wish it into reality. I wish that all the women were explored more and had more independence and actually had personalities.
