Why won't this end

Like, don't get me wrong it's a fun read but it feels like it was supposed to end ages ago

I had the same thoughts while reading the novel but in the end, no, it was all necessary. This continuation add so much depth to their story, you just have to trust the process and that process includes this very heavy narration. But keep reading, trust me, you'll love the story more
